On February 22nd Tomales FFA kicked butt at the Sonoma Section Speaking Contests. We took first and second in the Creed Contest, second in Prepared Speaking and fifth in the Impromtu Speaking Contest. This is the first time I have ever had students take the top two places in a Speaking Contest. Way to go Greenhands Emma Kuykendall and Maddie Soreng! I also want to thank Holly Soreng for heling me coach the two freshman. The two freshman and Terra Hargens are moving on to the Regional Contest on March 22nd in Eureka. Good luck in Creed and Prepared Speaking girls!

Wow, 14 kids are going to the FFA State Convention in Fresno in April. That is the most the chapter has ever taken. I'm sure they will all have a great time and bring back some new leadership skills.
Our FFA Week activities this year have been great and I'm sure the sophomore class is going to win the pizza party for the most active class in all of our events. We held our 7th Annual FFA Week Rally today. The chicken catch certainly was interesting. I think my favorite activity this week however, was the Chicken Bowling. I think that will be back agian next year. Well I hope everyone has had a great time this week. Friday I will be taking 7 students to the sectional public speaking contests. We have 2 students competing in each of the following: Creed, Impromtu and Job Interview contests. We have only 1 student in Prepared this year. Good luck to all!
Please do not support the HSUS! They are not our friends. This organization is out to destroy animal agriculture through secret vidoes and untruths about the industry. They prey on people that know nothing about agriculture and even ones that think they do. This organization does very little to help or save those cute little puppies and kittens they show on their TV ads. Less than 1% of the money they raise goes to animal shelters! Tell all your friends and relatives not to send them money or purchase their magazine. I just got a blanket from a coworker for a FFA Projects. He thought he was supporting a worthy cause by getting the blanket for the chapter activity. Believe me the agriculture industry is at war and needs to be much more proactive against groups like this. Spread the word about the good things that you do on yor farm or ranch with anyone who will listen if you want to keep your way of life

Today the 8th graders from TES and WMS visited the high school. We made a presentation to the groups today. Hopefully we will have a lot of sign ups this year. We are at a record membership of 78 in FFA this year. Later in the month we will be going to the junior highs to do a more in depth presenation with the prizes! FFA week is also coming this month we have a bunch of new activities this year.
